FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long should my Thailand fishing trip be?

3 days is enough for a single base (Bangkok pay-lakes OR Phuket charters). 7 days lets you do one base plus one extension (Phuket + Cheow Lan, or Bangkok + Kanchanaburi). 14 days lets you do a multi-region species hunt with weather backup built in.

What's the best season for an itinerary?

Andaman offshore: November–April. Gulf offshore: March–September. Mahseer in the north: January–April. Bangkok pay-lakes are year-round. Pick your priority species first, then time the trip around the species' best window.

Should I book with a tour operator or plan it myself?

DIY is usually cheaper and more flexible. Tour operators add value for non-English speakers, complex multi-region logistics, or first-time visitors who want hand-holding. Charter-only days you can always book direct.

How much do these itineraries cost?

Backpacker DIY: USD $40-80/day. Mid-tier: $100-200/day. Premium (Gillhams, liveaboards, private guides): $300-700/day. The Cost Calculator tool gives a budget estimate for your specific shape.
